When Ventura County, CA-based nonprofit Regenerate began a rebranding effort into “Regenerate Films,” focusing on compelling documentary films with its new slogan, “Amplifying Voices,” they commissioned Arvin Bautista (then serving as Chief Technology Officer and Artistic Director for Regenerate) to design a new logo.
The new logo uses the image of a dorji, a Nepalese symbol representing unstoppable strength like lightning. The graffiti motif was used to infuse youth and rebelliousness to the motif, with colors vaguely reminiscent of the holi festival (the Regenerate crew, on location of a documentary set in Nepal, had participated in such a festival).
In addition to the logo (created in Adobe Photoshop), a motion logo was created as a header for its upcoming documentaries, as well as various similar motion graphics for DVD menus.
